What’s the structure of the cable grippers?

The internal structure of the cable grippers consists of bearing balls, springs, pressure plates, and plungers. The outer glider housing is usually made of copper material.

How do the cable grippers work and grip the wire rope?

Depress the plunger and insert the cable through the plunger to pass the cable gripper; then release the plunger to lock up the cable at the present position you need.

When the plunger has been pressed, the spring and pressure plate go down simultaneously to release the ball bearings. The ball bearings will be in a loose condition which makes the cable pass the gripper smoothly.

When releasing the Plunger, the pressure plate and spring go up to tighten the Ball bearings, this will lock the cable in this present position.

Materials & Finishes:

Cable Grippers are made of nickel&Chrome-plated brass with a few exceptions. Internal mechanisms are comprised of brass and stainless steel. Grippers are also available in a black zinc finish,satin-chrome. Other finishes are available upon request. Some of the other items are made of anodized aluminum and come in several colors.

How It Works

Aircraft Cable Grippers are sophisticated in design but simple to use:

• Insert the cable into the plunger and slide the gripper to the desired position.

• Where it stops it locks. To re-adjust, simply depress the plunger with your fingertip and move the gripper to a new position. Release the plunger to lock.

• The 3--ball gripping mechanism is spring-loaded and allows the gripper to move freely up the cable. It cannot move down unless the plunger is depressed.

• While there is no weight at all on the gripper, the plunger cannot be depressed.

• An optional “safety nut” or “safety cap” can be added to completely lock the mechanism in both directions. The greater the weight, the stronger it grips.
